Three More Classes of Games with the Fictitious Play Property

چکیده

Fictitious play is the oldest and most studied learning process for games. Since Robinson’s (1951) classical result for zero-sum games, convergence of beliefs to the set of Nash equilibria has been established for some important classes of games, most notably 2×2 games (Miyazawa, 1961), weighted potential games (Monderer and Shapley, 1996), and supermodular games with diminishing returns (Krishna, 1992). We extend all three of these results, establishing convergence for 2×m games, for ordinal potential games, and for quasi-supermodular games with diminishing returns. Fictitious Play and No-Cycling Conditions

We investigate the paths of pure strategy profiles induced by the fictitious play process. We present rules that such paths must follow. Using these rules we prove that every non-degenerate 1 2x3 game has the continuous fictitious play property, that is, every continuous fictitious play process, independent of initial actions and beliefs, approaches equilibrium in such games.

Generalised weakened fictitious play

A general class of adaptive process in games is developed, which significantly generalises weakened fictitious play (Van der Genugten, 2000) and includes several interesting fictitious-play-like processes as special cases. The general model is rigorously analysed using the best response differential inclusion, and shown to converge in games with the fictitious play property. Furthermore, a new ...

A new interpretation of the Nash bargaining solution : fictitious play ∗

We provide a new interpretation of the Nash bargaining solution, using fictitious play. Based on the finding that the Nash demand game has the fictitious play property and that almost every fictitious play process and its associated belief path converge to a pure-strategy Nash equilibrium in the Nash demand game (In, 2014), we present two initial demand games which exactly and approximately imp...

Dynamic Opponent Modelling in Fictitious Play

Distributed optimisation can be formulated as an n player coordination game. One of the most common learning techniques in game theory is fictitious play and its variations. However fictitious play is founded on an implicit assumption that opponents’ strategies are stationary. In this paper we present a new variation of fictitious play in which players predict opponents’ strategy using a partic...
